The Channel Islands DFR surfboard is a high performance surfboard which has a lot of flex.
Board Dimensions: 6’4″ by 19 1/2 by 2 3/8
Fins: Ultra Light 7 in a Large.
The Pro: Axiom Surf finds this board very smooth on big days. On take off, the board is exactly where you want it making for an easier drop into the wave and not having to think about foot position or re-establish foot position is a plus. It rides fast and easy to pump to build speed to get through the slow sections.
The Con: The board feels thin even at 2 3/8. Every other time Axiom Surf tested this board, we ended up doing a some sort of repair. When we took a picture of this board for this review we found the fin box also dinged and pressed into the foam. When buying this surfboard make sure to check the board and you’re the right weight for the volume.
Overall: Axiom Surf would recommends pairing this board by weight and volume correctly. We were definitely able to paddle into waves but, it does take a little extra strength to get in there. It would make for a great surfboard for big days if it was pron to dings.
